Job Club

Job Club is an exciting six-session unit taught by Diantha Francis, Proctor High School Special Educator, and Melissa Hollerich, Vocational Rehabilitation Counselor. Vocational Rehabilitation (VR) is an adult agency that will be the support network for your child as he/she leaves school and enters the world of work.  Job Club is intended to help students get familiar with VR and its staff, to think about jobs in our community, and most importantly learn skills on how to prepare for that all significant job interview.

The students will learn how to use a variety of job-seeking strategies. Specific topics that will be addressed are: appearance and hygiene, healthy choices, social and interviewing skills.  A field trip to a local business will expose the students to a variety of jobs within that company, therefore giving them an opportunity to learn about different skills needed to perform a job.

It is our hope that during the last class of the program, students demonstrate the skills they learned during a mock interview.  With the assistance and support from the teachers, paraprofessionals, and members of the class, job club participants will increase their chances to land the job of their choice.
