9th Grade English (Honors) * Weighted 9th Grade English focuses on developing both written and oral communication skills. This is to prepare the students to engage in fluent and responsible communication and to analyze information that comes to them in many forms of expression. This course is structured in grammar, spelling, and vocabulary centered around the work that the students complete. This course also is centered around the Vermont State Writing Portfolios. The students will write these portfolio entries based on the reading done in class. Students will read and analyze a variety of genres. Students will also read an outside reading choice each month and create a project to show their knowledge of the book read. Texts and materials include, but are not limited to: 3 ring Binder Literature Anthology
