9th Grade English This course focuses on improving both written and oral communication. This course emphasises the development of reading comprehension, vocabulary expansion, spelling skills, G.U.M.S.( grammar, usage, mechanics and structure), and composition. There are a variety of genres that will be read, discussed and analyzed. Assessment consists promarily of written responses in various forms, which require the use of appropriate grammar conventions, as well as an understanding of the material. Students will also read an outside reading choice each month and create a project to show their knowledge of the book read. Texts and Materials include, but are not limited to: 3 ring binder
