COURSE OFFERINGS/DESCRIPTIONS:
Semester One:
Industrial Design- The focus of this class is design and the process by which it occurs. The student will be learning basic techniques for the development of working drawings/project planning. You will be working with wood and metal and will be required to complete design projects using both of these mediums. Evaluation will include the planning as well as the finish product.
Wood Technology- Wood Tech. is all about working with wood as a raw material. Safety will be emphasized in all, aspects. Students will learn project planning, use of hand tools, portable power tools, as well as some stationary equipment. Procedures such as gluing, forming, fastening, and finishing will all be included. See instructor with specific questions.
Bench Metals and Welding- Students will work in three areas: sheet metal fabrication, "wrought iron" work ( mainly hot rolled steel forms- square, round, flat, angle etc.) and welding processes. Safety will be stressed in all aspects of the curriculum. Projects will be required in all three areas with an emphasis on design and planning. Use of hand tools, power equipment, and stationary machines is all part of the curriculum. See instructor with specific questions.
7th Grade IA-(quarter class)- This is an introductory class designed to teach students some of the basics about planning and design, woodworking, and metalworking. Roughly three weeks will be spent in each area learning safe operation of related hand tools and some power equipment. Students will be asked to complete activities in all of the three areas.

Grading Criteria:
Quarter Grade Calculation:
33.3% = Tests and homework
33.3% = Project work / activities
33.3% = Class/laboratory performance- use of available time, work attitude, respect in the lab.
Semester Grade Calculation:
40% = 1st quarter grade.
40% = 2nd quarter grade.
20% = Final Exam
