Course Length: Full Year
Prerequisite: (Must have “Student Acceptable Use Procedures Agreement” on file. A 2-week grace period is granted at the beginning of the school year.)
Course Goals:
- To design and create media products that successfully communicate (Standard 5.15)
- To design a product that meets an identified need (Standard 2.13)
- To perform effectively as a member of a team (Standard 3.10)
- To learn to persevere in the face of challenges and obstacles (Standard 2.9)
Course Skills:
- To continue to develop proficiency and self-reliance in the use of computers and our school network
- To develop the skills needed to design and construct the Proctorian. Skills may include
- page layout and design
- selling ads
- advertising, promotion, and book sales
- bookkeeping
- photography
- photo/image prep
Evaluation:
Evaluation is based on your ability to produce a quality product (25%) and your participation (75%), including:
- Initiative
- Teamwork skills
- Attention to detail / Accuracy
- Responsibility:
- Ability to meet deadlines on time
- Following through with assigned task
- Work habits and use of time
Class Requirements:
- Come to class on time and be prepared to work.
- You will be required to work outside of the classroom block of time in order to meet strict deadlines set by the yearbook publishing company.
- Personal use of the Internet or email is NOT allowed during class time.
- Treat equipment with care; your workstation is your responsibility.
- Respect one another’s workspace.
- Follow computer room rules.
