Computer Tools I

Open to:      Grade 9

 

Prerequisite: Must have “Student Acceptable Use Procedures Agreement” on file.  (A 2-week grace period is granted at the beginning of the school year.)

Course Length:  1 Semester

 

This course is designed to provide students with an assortment of technology tools that will enhance student achievement in other classes. 

Course Goals: 

  • Students will use technology as a productivity tool (IT9-12:3) and as a communication tool (IT9-12:4). 
  • Students will use technology for research, problem solving, and decision making (IT9-12:5).

Course Skills:

  • To develop proficiency and self-reliance in the use of computers
  • To understand and use the school’s network
  • To develop and refine Internet research skills
  • Topics include but are not limited to:  file management, web site evaluation, internet search strategies, communication tools, presentation tools.

Class Requirements: 

1.   Come to class on time and be prepared to work.  Any class work not completed during class time must be finished outside of class.

 

2.   Personal use of the Internet or email is NOT allowed during class time.

 

3.   Treat equipment with care; your workstation is your responsibility.

 

4.       Respect one another’s workspace.

 

5.       Follow computer room rules.
